RIP BISHOP ZHONG-LIANG "JOSEPH" FAN
March 17, 2015 is the 1-year anniversary of the death of Shanghai's underground Bishop Zhong-Liang "Joseph" Fan (b. 1918, Society of Jesus).
The Communists persecuted him from the day of his arrest, September 8, 1955, to the day his body was cremated.
Persecuted even in death, he was not permitted a funeral Mass in Saint Ignatius Cathedral, so the Mass, offered by Father Yude "Joseph" Zhu, was held, instead, in a funeral home, but was attended by more than 5,000. Father Zhu wore red vestments, the color for a martyr.
Because the Communist's "bishop," Father Lu-Xian "Aloysius" Jin had been "consecrated" on January 27, 1985, and because the true bishop of Shanghai, Bishop Pin-Mei "Ignatius" Kung, was under strict house arrest, Father Fan was secretly consecrated an underground coadjutor bishop in the one, holy, catholic, apostolic Church on February 27, 1985, to act as Shepherd for the faithful.
